$1,200.00
Offered are 10 botanical Copeland Spode dinner plates with a wide scalloped flesh-toned peach border.
The border also features enameled pink roses and is finished with embossed gilt design rims.
The center for 9 plates is white, and the tenth plate has a hand-painted cluster of fruit.
That tenth plate was a lucky find.
Family heirloom.
The quality of these plates is a definite feature and probably the reason they were manufactured for retailer Tatman of Chicago.
He was an importer of fine porcelain, crystal, and silver with stores in Chicago and Evanston Illinois.
Nine plates have an impressed date mark for 1927.
MEASUREMENTS:
The plates are 10-plus inches in diameter.
HISTORY:
From 1847 to 1970 the company was owned outright by the Copeland family and many times showed a variation of Copeland often used in conjunction with the Spode name on the back stamp.
From the late 1800s to 1963 impressed marks were used to date the pieces. A letter to indicate the month and 2 numbers to reflect the year.
CONDITION:
They are in excellent condition.
No chips, cracks, or crazing.
Hand wash for the best care.
