Antique Royal Worcester Dessert Service for 5, Turquoise Ground, Floral Sprigs, Butterflies, Scalloped Rims, 5 Dessert Plates, 2 Compotes

Offered is a rare 7 -piece antique Royal Worcester dessert set manufactured in 1865. The pattern number is discontinued 7654.

There is a faint impressed mark that was used between 1863 and 1876.

The set includes 5 dessert plates and 2 cake stands which feature a vibrant turquoise ground covered with scattered floral sprigs and butterflies.

The design is striking and is enhanced by embossed scalloped rims trimmed in gilt.

The colors are still quite vibrant and the set is in great condition for display or entertaining.


MEASUREMENTS:

The 5 plates measure 8 7/8 inches in diameter.
The 2 cake stands measure 9 1/8 inches in diameter and stands 2 3/4 inches tall.





HISTORY:

The standard printed factory mark included the number 51 in the center which refers to the year 1751 when the Worcester Porcelain Company was founded by Dr. John Wall. the mark can appear in any color and on a variety of materials.

The marks almost always included a code to indicate the year of manufacture. From 1891 pieces were coded with a system of dots and/or symbols with the addition of the words "Royal Worcester England".
