Three antique Copeland Spode dessert plates.
Features an elaborate gilt grid over the border.
Framed by a band of celeste blue on the rims.
These dessert plates will make a statement on your table.
The gilding is presented in a swirl-like ruffled statement . Very unusual.
The colors are still vivid and fresh.
Family Heirloom.
Pattern mark is R 1185.
The date of manufacture is 1892 according to the impressed mark on the back of the plates.
Gilman Coleman & Co retailed the set.
MEASUREMENTS:
The plates are 8 3/4 inches in diameter.
HISTORY:
From 1847 to 1970 the company was owned outright by the Copeland family and many times showed a variation of Copeland often used in conjunction with the Spode name on the back stamp.
From the late 1800s to 1963 impressed marks were used to date the pieces. A letter to indicate the month and 2 numbers to reflect the year.
CONDITION:
The dessert plates are in excellent antique condition.
Minimal fading of the gilt in a few areas is present.
