$1,800.00
Six antique celeste blue Minton dinner plates are offered.
Embellished with embossed neoclassic gilt designs.
Finished with elegant scalloped rims.
They are unmarked but have a pattern number A 157 for identification.
Minton preferred hand-painted details, as is the case here over transfer-printed outlines.
Heavy, rich gilding was a choice also.
These dinner plates represent all these elements in their design.
They are unmarked but I believe the manufacturer to be Minton during the 19th century.
Use them in formal dining settings.
They are useful during the holidays or any special occasion.
HISTORY:
Thomas Minton (1765-1836)
Thomas Minton moved to Stoke, England in 1793 and opened his newly built factory in 1796--
He went on to become Spode's nearest rival.
The Minton factory was the most popular supply source in the 19th century of dinnerware made to order for embassies and heads of state. The name continues to the present day as part of the Waterford,
Wedgwood and Royal Doulton Group.
In the 1820s, Thomas Minton started producing bone china; this early Minton is regarded as comparable to French Sevres.
CONDITION:
Excellent antique condition.

DIMENSIONS:
The plates measure 10 inches in diameter.
FINAL COMMENTS:
A formal setting can be considered.
