4 Rare Antique Samuel Alcock Botanical Cake Stands w Cafe Au Lait Border Gilded Scalloped Rims Gift for Caterer Circa 1800s

Four striking antique botanical cake stands
Soft cafe au lait border and four different hand-painted floral centers
Samuel Alcock manufactured pottery and porcelain from 1822 to 1859.
The design is finished off with a gilded scalloped edge. The quality of the craftsmanship is prominent.

MEASUREMENTS:
The dishes are 9 X 11 inches in diameter.


HISTORY:
The Alcock bone china body is of good quality, well-potted, and very richly decorated.
In 1833, the factory employed more than 400 people, and their 20 Kilns equaled those in use by Minton.
Most of their porcelains between 1830 and 1840 are unmarked.
This is why the firm is so little known and often mistaken for Rockingham or Coalport.
The quality is there --but not the maker's mark. There is a pattern number.
These numbers quickly increased, and a fractional pattern number was introduced, i.e. 1/1234.


CONDITION:
No chips, cracks, crazing, or discoloration.
Minor color loss in a few areas.
The floral center is noticeably faded, which does not take away the beauty of these porcelain pieces.
Hand wash to keep the colors from fading.
