$350.00
Rare collector's antique plate manufactured during the early 19th century circa 1830.
Pink textured border with beautifully hand-painted floral panels.
Extensive gilding in the center medallion and around each floral panel and the scalloped rims.
Though unmarked, this plate shows all the qualities typically attributed to Samuel Alcock, who manufactured pottery and porcelain from 1822 to 1859.
Quality craftsmanship.
Family heirloom
The plate is 9 1/2 inches in diameter.
HISTORY:
The Alcock bone china body is of excellent quality and richly decorated.
In 1833, the factory employed more than 400 people, and their 20 Kilns equaled those in use by Minton.
Most of their porcelains between 1830 and 1840 are unmarked.
This is why the firm is so little known and often mistaken for Rockingham or Coalport.
The quality is there --but not the maker's mark. There will be a pattern number.
These numbers quickly increased, and a fractional pattern number was introduced, i.e., 1/1234.
CONDITION:
No chips, cracks, crazing, or discoloration.
Minor color loss in a few areas due to stacking.
This issue does not take away the beauty of these porcelain pieces.
