As you continue building your china closet, antique china will provide real value in timeless quality that has endured for centuries.
These five stunning antique Copeland Spode dessert plates have a basketweave scalloped border that comes alive still today.
The antique dealer who sold me these beauties was selling a pair, but during the transaction, she mentioned she might have a few more plates in storage. I was able to purchase five plates in wonderful antique condition. They had been in storage. She braved the cold in England (during Co-Vid) to travel to her storage facility to complete this set. We are privileged to offer this piece of history.
The plates are enhanced with an aqua ribbon threaded through the scalloped rims for a dramatic effect.
They are finished off with gilt embellishments.
The back mark indicates that this set was manufactured in the mid-1800s and was referred to as dessert plates; however, their size is versatile, as it aligns with today's luncheon-sized plates.
Lunch with some special friends. Serve salad at your next dinner party and choose dinner plates that pair well with it.
The rims are everything on these plates, scalloped and embossed ribbon with gilt trim. The pattern number on the plates is D5319.
These are keepers, so hold on to them as family heirlooms.
