Offered is a rare pair of antique Davenport dessert plates featuring hand-painted floral nosegays.
The pair is further decorated with extensive gilding and scalloped rims.
This application makes a distinctive effect.
Finally, these masterpieces were manufactured between 1817 and 1831.
There is a Davenport mark on each plate on the back authenticating the date of manufacture.
These plates have a timeless quality and can be heirlooms. and are great for display.
HISTORY;
Antique Davenport Porcelain (1794-1887)
This important Staffordshire factory was situated at Longport and run by John Davenport.
Originally an earthenware pottery establishment, it began to make good-quality porcelain of hybrid hard-paste type c. 1800, and from about 1810 onwards it was contented on bone china tea and dessert services.
In the early part of the 19th century, Davenport produced products of superb quality rivaling Spode, Swansea, and any other English manufacturer.
The factory produced some especially elegant Empire-style tea wares also.
Davenport porcelain body and decoration are of a very high standard and many unmarked pieces can be found incorrectly labeled "Rockingham".
CONDITION:
Great condition overall with some age-related issues.
A little fading in the gilding.

The plates are 9 3/8 inches in diameter.
