HISTORY:
Walter Scott Lenox founded his company in Trenton, New Jersey, in 1889.
His idea was to establish an art studio, not a china factory.
However, Lenox's Ceramic Art Company swiftly built an excellent reputation.
By 1897, examples of Lenox's work were included in the collection of China at the Smithsonian Institution.
Service china plates were introduced in 1902, and soon after came complete dinner sets.
By 1910, the company was producing patterns with transfer prints.
Walter Scott Lenox died in 1920.
