Offered is a stunning 4-piece antique Grainger Worcester dessert set.
The border on all pieces is a pretty-in-pink shade with gilded-scalloped rims and a gilded center medallion.
This set was manufactured when impressed marks were used often.
FB is on top, and GGW is below, which dates them sometime during the early 1800s. Worcester manufactured them.
There is also a printed mark on the back of each piece.
The plates measure about 9 1/2 inches and are heavy.
HISTORY:
Thomas Grainger and Company began manufacturing porcelain in 1806 to supply the lower end of the market.
They were one of three porcelain makers for Worcester and continued production until 1902.
After their beginning, they soon became the competition for Chamberlain, Barr, and Flight and Barr porcelain makers at Worcester.
The quality and skill of Grainger's craftsmanship are evident in the plates listed.
CONDITION:
This dessert set is overall in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing.
The beauty of these plates is still prominent.
The pink color is quite beautiful.
A photo shows a slight skip of the gilding.
Porcelain manufactured during the mid-1800s will have acquired some minor imperfections.
This set has been used primarily for display.
Please hand wash for the best care.
There is a larger set in a pattern slightly different from the gilding. The pink is the same shade.
