10 Rare Antique Samuel Alcock Green Dessert Plates w Stylized Yellow Florals, Gilt Scalloped Rims, Heirloom Quality, Circa 1822 1859

Offered is a striking antique china set.
There are 10 Samuel Alcock dessert plates featuring a green ground with stylized yellow florals.
Though unmarked, Samuel Alcock manufactured pottery and porcelain from 1822 to 1859.
The design is finished off with a scalloped gilt edge.
The quality of the craftsmanship is prominent.
Family Heirloom.

HISTORY:

The Alcock bone china body is of good quality, well potted, and very richly decorated.
In 1833 the factory employed more than 400 people and their 20 Kilns equaled those in use by Minton.
Most of their porcelains between 1830 and 1840 are unmarked.
This is why the firm is so little known and often mistaken for Rockingham or Coalport.
The quality is there --but not the maker's mark. There is a pattern number.
These numbers quickly increased, and a fractional pattern number was introduced, i.e. 1/1234. This numbering system is shown
on these plates.

MEASUREMENTS:
Ten dessert plates measuring 9 inches in this listing, and they are heavy.
The pattern number is 7553.

CONDITION:
Excellent antique condition.
No chips, cracks, or crazing.
