Hand-painted gilded embellishments.
The classic design makes the plates a great candidate for easy mixing and matching with other china.
The set of plates includes extra pieces: a small French sauce tureen and a pair of crescent-shaped serving plates.
These plates were produced when impressed marks were used often.
This impressed mark dates them sometime between 1839 and 1889.
MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 10 inches in diameter and are heavy.
HISTORY:
Thomas Grainger and Company began manufacturing porcelain in 1806 to supply the lower end of the market.
They were one of three porcelain makers for Worcester and continued production until 1902.
After their beginning, they soon became the competition for Chamberlain and Barr and Flight and Barr porcelain makers at Worcester. The quality and skill of Grainger's craftsmanship are evident in the plates listed.
CONDITION:
These plates are in excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear in a slight loss of gilt.
There are no chips, cracks, or crazing.
The beauty of these plates is still prominent.
The pink is quite beautiful.
