13-piece antique Copeland Spode dessert set with hand-painted floral nosegays scattered over the entire surface of each piece.
The set also features a distinctive scalloped gilt rim.
This dessert set will make a statement on your table.
The gilding is presented in a swirl-like ruffled fashion. Very unusual.
The colors are still vivid and fresh.
Family Heirloom.
The pattern mark is 5798.
The registration date of manufacture is 1892, according to the impressed mark on the back of the plates.
This set is top quality as all pieces are of the same pattern; however, pieces were retailed at three different luxury. Gilman Collemore & Co. retailed the dessert plates, Thomas Goode London retailed the muffin serving dish, and the cake plate was retailed at F. Crook on Motcomb in the Belgrave District in London. It is currently known for luxury fashion shops.
MEASUREMENTS:
Eleven dessert plates are 8 3/4 inches in diameter.
Muffin serving dish with dome-shaped lid; underplate is 9 1/8 inches
The dome lid is 5 1/2 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches in diameter.
The cake plate is 9n5/8 inches in diameter.
HISTORY:
From 1847 to 1970, the company was owned outright by the Copeland family and often showed a variation of Copeland, which was often used in conjunction with the Spode name on the back stamp.
From the late 1800s to 1963 impressed marks were used to date the pieces. A letter to indicate the month and 2 numbers to reflect the year.
CONDITION:
The dessert set is in excellent antique condition.
Minimal fading of the gilt in a few areas is present.
