They are further enhanced with white jeweling, gilded rim, and fluted scalloped edges.
Each plate is masterfully decorated.
The artist who painted these plates was highly skilled in creating the craftsmanship displayed in the final product.
It was the custom of the period for manufacturers to seek only the best painters.

HISTORY:
Josiah Spode was born in 1733, and after several years of gaining experience working for other local potters, he established his shop in 1776. He concentrated as did his friend Josiah Wedgewood on the production of ceramic wares of the finest quality. This is the keyword to remember quality.
He focused his attention on the porcelain manufacturers and, in 1796, introduced "bone china" because its formula contained calcined ox-bone.
DIMENSIONS:
9 inches in diameter.
CONDITION:

No hairlines, cracks, chips, or crazing.
