17-piece assembled antique English dinnerware set
12 classically styled white Davenport dinner plates
Raised gilded design on the rims of the Davenport plates and platter features the Louis XVI crossed ribbon motif, achieving a striking effect.
The pair of lidded serving dishes with gilded rims complement the plates nicely.
These pieces are marked "Daniell London" and are classically monogrammed.
The back mark on the plates and platter dates their manufacture to circa 1870 1886.
The lidded serving dishes were manufactured a little later, circa 1912.
Four sets of Minton cream soup bowls with saucers are shown in the photos and will also be included to this assembled set.

HISTORY:
John Davenport, born in 1765 manufactured the plates and platter and began potting in 1785.
He began as a workman and later as a partner with Thomas Wolfe of Stoke.
He acquired his pottery at Longport to manufacture earthenware in 1794.
In 1830, he retired, and his two sons, Henry and William, carried on the firm until 1835, when Henry died.
The firm became William Davenport and Company. When William died in 1869, his sons took over the direction of the business, which remained in the family until 1887.

The pair of serving dishes were retailed by "Daniell London."
The A.B. and R.P. Daniell Co. was established in 1820 and began trading under Daniell London in 1912.
They had the charter to produce porcelains for a royal family in England.
The royal family represented in these pieces' red and gold monograms has yet to be discovered.
