Includes 12 Copeland Spode dessert plates
In the Stafford shape( scalloped)
Accented with a hand-painted and winged-designed rim in metallic green and gold.
The monogram CDL also is hand-painted in metallic gold and green.
These plates appear to have been used for display only, and the dealer who sold them told me that they had only one owner, a man born in 1863. Burley and Company was the retailer.
These plates have an impressed mark used by Spode showing that the date of manufacture is 1901.

MEASUREMENTS:
The plates are 9 inches in diameter.

HISTORY:
From 1847 to 1970, the company was owned outright by the Copeland family and often showed a variation of Copeland, which was often used in conjunction with the Spode name on the back stamp.
From the late 1800s to 1963, impressed marks were used to date the pieces. A letter to indicate the month and two numbers to reflect the year.

CONDITION:
They are in excellent condition.
No chips, cracks, or crazing are to be found.
Any china produced during this period may have minor age-related issues.
Hand washes are best for these plates.
